I stand by what I said before. You posted that "they said" that Estrada was "dangerous because he was Latino." I said you were distorting what they said, that they thought he was dangerous because being Latino is desirable so it made it more likely that he'd be confirmed. Which is exactly the truth. "Dangerous" is a compliment.

You're also suggesting that all the Democrats on the committee called all the Republican judges "Nazis" and that's a distortion, as well. One staff memo for one Senator does not a committee make.

Republicans aren't getting the kind of traction they'd hoped for with these memos, and I believe the reason is that only a few people, all of them Republicans, most of them "Ditto-heads", fall for that particular brand of bloody-shirt-waving hyperbole. There's a disconnect there that I think simply cannot be bridged.

There are serious ideological differences at stake here, and everybody knows that. Trivializing it is great for fund raising out in the hinterlands but it doesn't make for good op-ed.
