Saddam can't say anything that will prove or disprove WMD. His words are worthless as we all know. But if he directs us to the WMD, or to the sites where WMD were destroyed, then that would be hard evidence. Not the word of Saddam. Don't hold your breath for any help from Saddam.

The Bush administration has played down the fact that Saddam was at large. Today they will reverse that tactic and make hay of the capture. No one will doubt that this is a very positive event, as Saddam's iron hand was felt even from his rat hole.

But the capture of Saddam does not vindicate Bush's war against Iraq. It does not vindicate his lack of diplomacy. It does not excuse the lack of evidence for making the "imminent danger to America" case. The Bush doctrine is a failed foreign policy. We need to get back to working with the allies, not against them. The US made a mistake by pre-emptively attacking Iraq, with little support of our allies.
