Reportedly Saddam thought had asked our permission to invade Kuwait and thought he'd gotten it. A stupid mistake on his part but remember, before then wasn't he on our side against the Iranians? Yup. This is far more complicated than the Bushie spin would ever start to admit. It's like Rush Limbaugh spinning his addiction into a positive thing. The spin has gone so far that when something real happens it flies in the face ot if. Saddam was an evil guy but now he looks totally harmless, like some old beggar.
