"Canada was our ally in WW1 and WW2 and all through the Cold War. It's a NATO member. It's a NAFTA member. It's a NORAD member"

Canadian ambassador Kenneth Taylor hid and successfully smuggled American embassy workers in Iran out of that country during the hostage crisis. I have friends who were stuck in nowwheres land in Canada and all of them talked about the warm embrace they recieved from Canadians that took them into their homes in the immediate aftermath of 911. Not to mention the block long lineups of Canadians who didn't miss a beat to donate their blood for those that might need it in New York after 911. Just because Canada doesn't want to be America's lap dog, and choses to make its own course in world affairs, does not make for a neighbor that should be spoken poorly of. Indeed, if anything, Canada has more legitimate gripes with its Southern neighbor than the other way around. Punitive lumber tarrifs would be one example.
