Event

Saddam's capture; revisiting October upgrade.
Investment Opinion

Royal flush or house of cards: recent move in OSX puts group on verge of breakout or correction, in our opinion.

Given Saddam's capture, we expect positive investor psychology could catapult group into breakout territory.

Bear argument will likely focus on prospect for increased Iraqi oil production due to reduced risk of sabotage.

We believe this view is premature and in any event we are confident OPEC will continue to manage for price optimization.

Worthwhile to revisit October upgrade thematics. In our opinion:

Modest rig activity gains on a global basis despite flat E&P spending chatter.
Sector rotation: group will not be left behind in current economic growth environment.
Favorable seasonal trading patterns to unfold into 1Q. January-May best performing period in every year since 1997.

Stock Ideas

Large Cap growth . SLB : 70% of revenues derived from international market; should be focal stock as large cap investors pour into group.

Mid Cap Growth . SII : 60% of revenues derived from international market; one of few companies demonstrating pricing power with new price book up 3-5% in December.

Small Cap Growth . RDC : Highest revenue and asset intensity to premium jackup rig market; premium jackup rig market should be virtually bullet proof as incremental demand expected to keep utilization and pricing high.
