Of all the terrorist attacks in human history, Osama hit the jackpot with the Twin Towers. Even pretty big bangs like Tim McVeigh's and the Moscow theatre gassing are trivial in the grand scheme of things.

Even the most spectacular jackpot of all was just a few buildings and about 3000 people. Compared to natural carnage [like AIDS and car crashes let alone sucking on cigarettes and dietary deficiency in foetal and infant development] terrorist damage is microscopic and of zero economic consequence.

Even those larger effects are trivial compared with the invention of contraception, the 6 billion population [up from 1 billion a century ago] and the shift from subsistence agrarian life with some industrialisation in advanced countries to cyberspacoid life in the 21st century.

Terrorism is insignificant from an investing point of view. How about the shift from a primitive gold standard to a credit-based economy where consumption is shifted from the future to now? Debt is vast, a world record, and working to pay off debts is assured. Work is production and needs investment.

Viewing Earth from a Globalstar satellite, it's hard to find terrorism. There are billions of people in millions of buildings, all working away to make their lives better.

Not investing due to terrorism is like not investing because a car might crash on a nearby motorway. What terrorism?
