I understand that everything I read on these boards is at my own risk, and I appreciate your willingness to share experience. I saw you post at one point that you were in MSFT in the early days. Have you seen many other big, long-term winners with this kind of volatility out of the blocks? Any comparisons?

I hope you didn't take offense to my earlier post. It's very obvious that you're generously posting on numerous subjects what you know/believe or information you've received. I've looked at specs for the Merced and am sure that Rambus is in an enviable position. We may have a correction in Rambus or the market in general, but long term, the coming combination of Merced/Rambus will be hard to compete with using today's technology.

In the early 80's, I was working for a systems house and we actually had customers tell us that an 8088 w/640K & 10MB was all the power they'd need. How fast do you need to move text around after all? There are incredible things coming in the next few years, and the more horsepower that's available, the more business, scientific, multimedia, and personal systems will be able to do. Rambus will be one of the enabling companies.
