He ought to be tried in an Iraqi court, and he will be. The Iraqis need his crimes to be made public - they were done secretly, nobody knows how many died or where.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the reaction of the "international community". They think they ought to have the trial as the ultimate experts in warcrimes trials (so much for turning power over to the Iraqis as they were demanding loudly a week ago), but they couldn't possibly sully their moral purity by having anything to do with a trial that might result in the death penalty.

Oh no, indeed. They could just do everything in their power to keep Saddam in his palaces, filling up the mass graves, using French and German weapons on his own people when necessary.

France is the worst. France sold Saddam his nuclear plants, chemicals, missiles, and I'm not talking way back when, I'm talking about the day before yesterday. Polish troops in Iraq have found French missiles dated 2003. So much for sanctions, the preferred method of international community "action".

But they could never have anything to do with a trial that might result in the Iraqis hanging the bastard. That would be immoral.

The world has gone stark, staring mad.
