SO Reagan, Bush Sr & Rumsfeld sold WMD's to Saddam, 'eh?

From: KyrosL

The only thing he has to bargain with is his life
Not quite. For example, I would love to hear what he has to say about his relationship with the Reagan and Bush Sr. administrations. You know, back when he was having cordial discussions with Rummy, and getting the OK to gas the Iranians.

Oh, yeah, America's butt boy, that's Saddam. Just a helpless tool of American hegemony, gassing Kurds with poison gases "made in the USA!" At least, that's the way the story is told in Bizarro World.

Funny thing, though, how come Saddam got most of his arms from the Russians and the French, and only 1% from the US?

Time to drag out one of my FAQ:

FAQ: Who was the major supplier of arms to Iraq, 1973-2002?

Table here -

#1 Soviet Union, %57 of share;
#2 France, %13 of share;
# 3 China, %12 of share;
# 4 Czech Republic, %7 of share;
#6 Brazil, %4 of share;
# 7 Egypt, %2 of share;
# 8 Romania, %1 of share;
# 9 Denmark, %1 of share;
# 10 Libya, %1 of share;
# 11 USA, %1 of share.

That's absolute bullshit, KL. The left loves the line though, I see Michael Moore pushing is it.

Kyros, this obsession is making the Left ridiculous. Sure, Saddam was regarded as less obnoxious than Khomenei in the 1980s. But if the US supplied with a thimbleful, France, Germany and Russia sold him buckets. Who are the big creditor nations of Iraq after all? how do you think they racked up those debts? What Saddam has to say about their dealings might be interesting.
