Mainland regulators have given the green light to ING Investment Management's fund management joint venture with China Merchants to launch a second fund product, the China Merchants Cash Plus Fund.

The new fund follows the well-received launch of the China Merchants Antai Fund series in March 2003. The Antai Funds raised Rmb4.5bn ($500m).

China Merchants Cash Plus Fund will invest in Chinese investment grade bonds, treasury bills, repurchase agreements and other CSRC-approved cash and fixed income investments. The fund is aimed at investors with a low-risk profile.

The fund offers investors a number of new benefits. For example, investors will be able to subscribe to the fund and conduct transactions online. There are no front- or back-end fees applied to the fund.

The fund will be distributed through China Merchants Bank, China Merchant Securities, Hua XiaSecurities, Guotai Junan Securities and Xing Yie Securities, and will be available to investors across China.

Meanwhile, ING Financial Planning last week launched an International Wealth Management Practice for Hong Kong-based international clients with an annual household income of HK$600,000 and above. Justine Lau
