Does Saddam Hussein have POW status ? I think not, for the following reasons :

- He was not wearing the uniform of his military when apprehended.

- He was not even in combat - he was AWOL, and doing his best to be un-detected.

The 2nd point may be weak, but the 1st is not, IMO.

That does not mean that the US will not trea him as a POW, just his status according to Geneva Convention. I'd like to see him sent to Gitmo as enemy combatant, but I'll defer to the Iraqis.

EDIT : Just saw a news flash that says International Red Cross wants to visit him, to understand and make sure he is held in humanitarian conditions. What an irony they did not make that request for his victims. As of today, my donations to the Red Cross stop.
