Well, what is your justification for alleging that Americans were "sympathetic to Saddam"?

For the small group who even knew the difference between Iraq and Iran, yes, we regretted that Iran was taken over by the Ayatollah, but that didn't make Saddam any less of a totalitarian dictator.

You may have sympathized with totalitarian dictators, but I never have.

And yes, they cut dashing figures in certain sectors of the press. Jonas Savimbi, Danny Ortega, great heroes to some. I know people on these boards who still piss and moan about Salvador Allende. Not me, never. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
