4:57 am PT Merrill Lynch raises 2004 semi growth forecasts : Merrill Lynch raises their semi device and semi capital spending forecasts for 2004, saying their macro analysis and bottom-up survey work suggest that current ests are too low. Firm raises their 2004 semi device rev growth forecast to 23% from 18%, and raises their 2004 semi capital spending growth est to 30% from 27%; however, firm notes that the higher base for 2004 results in a slower growth forecast for 2005.
