According to soldiers at the scene, the former president of Iraq was seconds from being blown to smithereens by a hand-grenade. Off from one side of the 6 foot by 8 foot tomb-like hole was a tiny crawl space . . . just large enough for a single body to crawl into. . . and no more. It had its own ventilation. A grenade in the hole would have probably ripped apart his legs. . . then one of the soldiers would have crawled into the hole anyway to have a look. So Saddam had presence of mind to surrender. . . yelling, "I am Saddam Hussein, president of Iraq" . . . to which the soldiers replied, "yeah sure, and I am Ali Baba and these are my forty thieves." No, I guess they said something to the effect of, "president Bush sends his regards" . . . as they stood their pointing a dozen automatic weapons down the hole. The whole event reads like a Tinseltown script. Wouldn't it be fun to find out it was the tail wagging the dog? Have we found any of Saddam's plastic-surgery-assisted body double cousins yet? That beard sure looked long for only 8 months since his last supposed appearance. Will the real Saddam please stand up? Rande Is
