No, the "wingnuts" don't "hate" people like Palast, they just regard him as a sloppy journalist who omits facts that are inconvenient to the expression of his opinion. For example, his timeline in that article curiously omits the fact that US support for Saddam paled to that of Western Europe and Russia. But then, what's a minor fact like that among us moral equivalentizers?
He also witholds his criticism for the previous US policy, which was to uphold the UN sanctions, which resulted in the deaths of perhaps a million people, half of which were children. Would Palast agree with Madeliene Albright? (May 12, 1996):
Lesley Stahl, speaking of US sanctions against Iraq: "We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And – and you know, is the price worth it?" Madeleine Albright: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price – we think the price is worth it."

I'm glad that Palast has developed a proper sense of moral outrage about hypocritical US foreign policy. I don't recall him expressing it much during the previous administration, and for some reason I doubt it will be a priority for him in a future Democratic administration.
Sadly, one might say the same of some of your commentary.
And I say this with great respect for you, not "hate". |
