A good question. I found that episode disturbing at the time, and wondered if the coalition forces had made a mistake of not removing Saddam in the first Gulf war. The sanctions probably killed a lot more people then the recent war has.

I agree it's a subject needs intelligent debate removing as much of the politics as possible. I think both Clinton and Bush have just stumbled along as best they could in both circumstances with respect to Iraq.
