An interesting link ... I followed it to their discussion on Carmenere, which is the same story being posted by many experts these days.

I found early-mid 90's CyT the worst offender in the acid versus genuine tannins category for Chilean representatives.

Lately I have tried the Cono Sur Pinot's with some success. The mass Pinot is worth the 12-13 loonies; however, the 20 Barrel is a very good wine for around 27 loonies. BUT it does not age well and the last bottle of '98 that I tried was tawny and lacked any fruit!

It is interesting how some of the better (IMO) Chilean vineyards have direct french connections.
