Mr. Denis Simoneau reports BIRIM EXTENDS TOMBE-PARABU GOLD DISCOVERY IN GHANA-DRILLING RETURNS 18.38 G/T GOLD OVER 6 METRES Recent reverse circulation drilling on Birim Goldfields' Bui project in Ghana, West Africa, has extended the strike length of its previously announced Tombe-Parabu north gold discovery 70 metres to the north of the discovery hole, CTR-127. Drill hole CTR-186, located along line 27+150N, intersected a steep to moderately dipping pyritized, silicified zone which returned 18.38 grams per tonne gold over a downhole length of six metres starting at 36 metres downhole. In the same hole, a second interval, grading 6.66 grams per tonne gold over two metres, was cut at a depth of 71 metres. Further, a drill hole recently drilled 50 metres to the south of CTR-127 intersected a silicified zone with a width of approximately 10 metres. Assays are pending. On Nov. 3, 2003, Birim Goldfields (BGI) reported in Stockwatch results from the first group of 46 reverse circulation holes, CTR-82 through CTR-127, drilled on the extensive Tombe-Parabu gold-in-soil anomaly on the company's Bui district properties. The last hole drilled for which assays were available, CTR-127, returned two significant gold intersections: 4.47 grams per tonne over 17 metres commencing at 22 metres downhole and 2.90 grams per tonne over 11 metres starting 47 metres downhole. On the Tombe-Parabu south anomaly, an area not previous drilled, 26 reverse circulation holes were completed along two lines, 24+000N and 24+600N. Results from the drilling were mixed; however, one hole returned two metres grading 21.48 grams per tonne gold. Sampling along a trench, 300 metres long by 1.5 metre deep, cut along line 24+200N, returned significant gold mineralization, most notably a composite sample representing a four-metre interval grading 20.92 grams per tonne gold, located along the eastern margin of the gold-in-soil anomaly. Plans are being made to follow up on the high-grade gold results from the trenching and drilling programs. "We are extremely excited about the extension of the Tombe-Parabu north gold zone," reported Denis Simoneau, president and chief executive officer, "and are encouraged by the results from Tombe-Parabu south. More drilling is required to get a good handle on the geometry of the the northern gold zone and, to that effect, we are in the process of outlining a drill program for the new year to follow up these potential extensions." |
