Martin & Jim,

It looks like online trading is going to be a problem no matter which firm you use. Makes sense, even though it's been around for a few years, it's still a new growth industry. The software is new and the people involved - both ends - are still learning.

I will admit to causing some of my own problems. When I used to talk to my broker, it was easy. I told him what I wanted to do and he took care of it. Online, I must do the things he used to do for me. It isn't until things go wrong that you realize the mistake you made. I've been trading online for about a year and am still learning.

I have registered complaints about e.schwab. I have no complaints about their people or resolution of problems I've had with them. My only problems are the cost and difficulties with their trading desk. I have the feeling I would have similar problems most anywhere I would go. I like their software and find the people friendly, knowledgable, and attentive to my complaints. Probably stay with them.

When I consider that I make 10-15 margin trades a month and cancel another 10-15, it's not surprising that I have some problems.

For what it's worth,
Ron
