Oh, really, Governor Dean?

newsandopinion.com | Saddam Hussein is safely locked away. But not all American politicians are pleased.

Being elected to Congress for four terms gave me the opportunity to watch more than my share of political speeches. And of the thousands of political pep talks, I have been forced to endure in my lifetime, my short lifetime may I add, I must say Howard Dean's speech today was one of the most intellectually challenged I have ever heard. Howard Dean actually had the audacity to claim today that America is not a safer place after Saddam Hussein's arrest.

Oh, really, Governor Dean? America's not a safer place when we don't have a brutal dictator running a terrorist state? America's not a safer place now that we don't have a Stalinist thug actively seeking chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons for use against the United States of America? And America, the Middle East, and the world is not a safer place with Saddam in custody, with this thug killed more Arabs than anybody else in history? I guess we shouldn't be surprised.

After all, this is the same Howard Dean who told Tim Russert in June that he wasn't sure if the Iraqi people would be better off with the most murderous dictator in their history removed from power. Did Howard Dean forget that Saddam Hussein used weapons of mass destruction against his own people? Did Howard Dean forget that Saddam Hussein was responsible for the death of millions of Arabs during his bloody reign?

And did Howard Dean forget that even the United Nations condemned Saddam Hussein on 17 different occasions for building and seeking weapons of mass destruction?

Obviously, he must have. And for that reason alone, Howard Dean has proven himself unfit to be president of the United States.
