Hi Karen,
Please don't dis the "Capital Press" too much.. I am a subscriber, btw, a birthday present from my brother, because he knew I liked it to read it so much..
They are pretty well balanced between big corporate ag and the smaller family farms. For example, in that issue of 12/12/03, carrying the "Subsidized Obesity" article, next to it was a feature on poinsetta growing... Also there was a "Small Acreage", a "Orchard, Nuts and Vines", "Adding Value", "What's Cooking" and "Vegetables" section..
BTW, I do think that young or old obesity can be mostly tied, besides genes, to lack of exercise, in the past or present... Simple physics, just burn up more than one takes in.. In the past the CP has featured organic farming, small farmers and orchard growers, etc. of the NW struggling to survive.. I don't read the editorials much.. but they do have contributers from both sides..
Hey also, <g> , we look mostly at ads for land and equipment.. To see if we can get a better deal on ranch land than what we already own.. So when we retire, we can build this great house (with the help of a good used Kubota dozer, we bought on CP,<g>) and then have ALL our liberal friends from SI for a super party, a long weekend of dining, dancing, horse back riding, or whatever, maybe just laying around and talking politics. <g>...
You are invited.. :) c |
