I hope that the kids appreciate it. I can still recall the emotional impact the first time that I saw the movie. It is hard to explain to younger children just how real the fear was during the Cold War.

When I was growing up in the 50's, my parents would drive by a store that sold the shells for fallout shelters. I was obsessed with the thought that I needed to grow up quickly, earn some money and build a shelter in my parent's back yard. As if the Soviets would have bothered nuking Chicago. <gg>

I can't believe that "The Wind and the Lion" is almost 30 years old. A magical movie. It is a shame that Milius has been blackballed by Hollywood.
