moveon.org's bush in 30 seconds ads (from the contest) are now available for viewing:
bushin30seconds.org
there were over 1,000 entries. due to overwhelming demand, you can only view and rate 20 ads per day.
i just viewed the first 20. some are crappy and some are great. here's my favorite so far:
mywebpages.comcast.net
(right-click, then save target as, then view with an .mpg player such as quicktime or windows media player)
it's perfect for a 30 second ad... it's simple and it makes ONE point - very memorable - very moving.
i gave it four - 5 stars.

Dear Bush in 30 Seconds folks,
When we announced the launch of our "Bush in 30 Seconds" ad contest back in October, we expected maybe 300 people would take the time to make a TV ad that tells the truth about President Bush. But when we reached the submissions deadline in early December, we had over 1,000 ads - including some of the best political ads we've ever seen.
Now, we're counting on you to help us narrow the field from 1,000 ads to 15 finalists. Our panel of celebrity judges will pick the winning ad from among those finalists, and we'll run it in January during the week of Bush's State of the Union address. All 15 of the top ads will be featured in a Bush in 30 Seconds awards show in New York on January 12th.
We'll be launching this to the whole MoveOn base tomorrow, but we're offering you a preview today.
You can start voting on the ads right now at: bushin30seconds.org
(We recommend viewing the ads on a high-speed Internet connection -- it'll take a long time for them to load with dial-up.)
The range and quality of the ads is remarkable. There are cartoons, takeoffs, music videos, documentaries, and somber, moving works of art. Ads have been submitted from every state in the country, and they feature newborn babies, 95-year-old grandmothers, and everyone in between. And while some of them probably aren't grade-A material, even advertising industry veterans have been impressed with the overall caliber.
When you log in to rate ads, you'll be presented with a selection drawn from the entire pool. You'll be able to evaluate each ad according to four criteria, and submit that information to move to the next ad. You can share a great ad by forwarding a link to a friend for viewing, but the only way to vote on any of the ads is to sign on to the voting process. The online voting will conclude at the end of the year -- midnight, PST, on December 31st.
The success of this phase of the contest depends on people rating a bunch of ads and inviting their friends and acquaintances to do the same. The voting begins now at: bushin30seconds.org
Enjoy.
Sincerely, --Eli, Jonathan, Laura, Lee, and Moby The Bush in 30 Seconds Team |
