I think the lesson of 9/11 is that there is plenty of blame to go around. 9/11 could have happened at ANY time since the advent of commercial flight. It's hard for Americans to get their minds around suicide attacks, it's just so foreign to our individualistic thinking. Kamakazi's terrorized us during WWII. A B-25 flew into the Empire State Building then, by accident.
What's important is that we prevent future attacks, not by occupying potential attackers, which become innumerable, but by anticipating and preventing them here.
