Republican morals shown to be corrupt and hypocritical as always. 3 stories from the last 3 days show the FOD (Friends of Dubya) for the crumbs they are:
1. John Rowland, the governor of Connecticut, a close FOD, lied about accepting expensive work on his summer home from state contractors. He said he bought the material from Home Depot. Reporters checked and caught him, so he admitted he lied and that the work was done and material supplied by his buddies who just happened to win a lot of state contracts. My understanding is that Home Depot will be idicted for not lying to protect a Republican. <G>
2. The former Republican governor of Illinois has been indicted for corruption.
3. Scene at the Strom Thurmond home: "Missy, clean up that mess in the kitchen, and no pussy-footin' 'round, ya hear. Speaking of pussy.... And when we finish with that, tell our daughter that she should be proud of her old man. He's going to filibuster this Civil Rights nonsense to keep her kind out of decent white only schools, neighborhoods, voting booths and decent-paying jobs. Make sure my wife doesn't overhear you." Fast forward a few decades and Strom is making a speech: "President Clinton is immoral and should be impeached for having sexual relations with a woman other than his wife."
The fact is, with the sleazy Pro-Bush judges on the appeals courts and the Supreme Court that appointed him President, it is unlikely that either of the Republican governors will do any time. But my guess is even Dubya won't appoint Rowland to a cabinet post now when he has so many others from which to choose, and they haven't been caught yet. And no matter how much evil Strom did, he did take down Trent Lott, so his daughter can take some pride in that. |
