China will play ball as long as it is in their best interest; as for Japan you get the impression they do what the U.S. tells them to do, whatever.
As long as international economies believe their economic health is dependent on the U.S. massive ability to consume, the world banks will collude to assist U.S. to keep americans buying buying buying.
I can't quote exactly what % of the World GDP we account for, but it is of such amzing size, a drop in U.S. consumer spending be enough to strike fear in many a foreign countries' heart i would think.gd
