That's part of Richard Duncan's theory, although he also questions the sustainability of foreign debt purchases. The total excess savings of the entire planet is well under a trillion a year, and the twin deficits are now $1.1 trillion. This will require sustained CB buying of up to half of that, an extraordinary number any way you cut it. Is it doable for another year? I have big doubts, but once in awhile my calls are wrong.

Also I don't compare the US situation to Japan's experience at all, it's more akin to Argentina.
