Hi Ron. Yup, we're starting to enter the sweet spot for formulary decisions. Quebec should make up it's mind first and will be the most likely to list Pennsaid.

My intention in posting the "reality check" was to condition expectations on the probability of being fully listed on the provincial formularies. There seems to be an attitude that these things are a given, which could not be farther from the truth.

As CaptainKlutz pointed out on SH a couple weeks ago, there is a better chance of any drug getting rejected than accepted. Check out these stats:

From 1995 - 2000,

PEI
Restricted Listing - 14
Full Listing - 19
Not Listed - 195

Newfoundland
Restricted Listing - 0
Full Listing - 20
Not Listed - 208

Nova Scotia
Restricted Listing - 28
Full Listing - 25
Not Listed - 175

New Brunswick
Restricted Listing - 24
Full Listing - 25
Not Listed - 179

Quebec
Restricted Listing - 24
Full Listing - 71
Not Listed - 133

Ontario
Restricted Listing - 46
Full Listing - 8
Not Listed - 174

Manitoba
Restricted Listing - 15
Full Listing - 44
Not Listed - 169

Saskatchewan
Restricted Listing - 57
Full Listing - 26
Not Listed - 145

Alberta
Restricted Listing - 29
Full Listing - 38
Not Listed - 161

British Columbia

Regardless of what you think about Rebecca and the management of DMX, I would advise everyone to temper there expectations and subsequent reactions (when the decisions come in) with the reality of the odds. If you view the actual lists of drugs not approved by the formularies you will find the largest of pharmaceutical names there, so even their clout is often not sufficient to overcome the politics.
