I'm having a "computer guy" come in and upgrade or replace my three-year old system. I use the computer at home for web surfing and tracking stocks and e-mail. I'm not computer literate. What might be some of the options that are available to me that I should be talking to him about, if I only knew what I should know?

I assume he'll replace my Win '98. I assume he'll give me some sort of new computer w/firewall. I have DSL; I want fast responses uploading and downloading. My wife wants her computer, in an adjacent room, hooked to DSL - I assume that means a router is in the solution somewhere. Would you guys go wireless? I'm indifferent to lap-tops. I prefer to work at my desk, and I want a good keyboard. (Some laptops aren't comfortable to type on.) How about a wireless mouse or keyboard? That'd get rid of wire clutter (I assume). I like that.
How about a double monitor so I can follow streaming stock quotes on one and be working at another monitor at the same time? Is that a reasonable idea?
For my last computer I chose a 19" CRT display - I like my cat's company when I work, and she likes the warmth on top of the CRT. What monitor might I be looking at as a replacement or addition? (Again, my use almost only numbers/words/reading/etc. - no games)

Thanks again. Appreciate past help, and welcome any ideas I might get now about my current "problem".
