American foreign policy has two major goals at it's core: keep the oil flowing from the Middle East and keep the arms business robust (by encouraging or prolonging wars). Those are the two most profitable businesses in the world, oil and arms. Which is exactly why all those disparate people and organizations that you mentioned are connected. Strange bedfellows for sure when there's all that money to be made. $$
