I thought the whole country had come around to that, what with the reparations and all, not just the lefties. Just as the whole country has finally come around to the notion that blacks have equal rights.

None of which has anything to do with Padilla, who wasn't "interned" for his group identity but who got caught up in this still fuzzy area of the distinction between a terrorist and a criminal and an enemy combatant and a traitor and how all of that applies to citizens vs. non citizens and how where one is captured is relevant. Paradigm shifts take time to sort out...
