Unquestionably what is happening is that Republicans like Rove and the uber-devious Grover Norquist have set up divisiveness and rancor as important tools in their arsenal for their onslaught on democracy. They have brought this tactic all the way down to state houses and local jurisdictions.

The lack of comity in our politics today is a deliberate tactic. It is much like the belligerence of the National Socialists in Germany in the mid-1930s when they were consolidating power and eliminating rivals. They have learned their lessons well on how to rise to power and dominate the nation. Too bad they have read the final chapters of the National Socialist book.
