Scoot,

I see the M's gave Garcia a one year deal. Hopefully they
still have a few tricks up their sleeves for you in the off
season. You still have a lot of talent on that team.

I missed all the football action yesterday. I forgot they
were playing... Drats.

We had a house full of family over for a Christmas party. It
was a lot of fun but I'm feel the effects this morning of
the combination of Swedish Meatballs, Burbon mini hot dogs,
Chile Cream cheese dip, along with twenty other finger
foods. Lots of rumbling going on this morning (and
throughout the night)...

The kids had a blast opening up some of their gifts.
The boys got lots of toys that make noise and require an
armory of batteries. I can here the noises already this
morning. My head is pounding... I think my mother looks
for the loudest most obnoxious sounding gift she can find
each year. I suppose its her way of paying me back from
my years of torment practicing my trumpet.

Speaking of trumpets, I suppose I'm my own worse enemy. I
bought my youngest son a trumpet for Christmas this year.
He seems like he is really into music. Unlike the Casio
keyboard I got him when he was two, this trumpet is
something I can at least teach him to play.

I suppose the thing I'm a little worried about is that my
older son may get jealous that I didn't get him an
instrument. I suppose I'll have to get him something like
that soon, but figure I'll wait to see how things work
out.

So far the best gift my older son got has been a chess set.
He loves it. It is so good to see him wanting to play that
over the video games and other electronic toys he has.

We only begun playing yesterday and he knows how to set
them up correctly and what each piece is allowed to move.
But best yet is that I've witnessed several occasions where
he's defended my moves and trapped me a few times. He's
learning rather quickly. Too bad for him his old man sucks
at the game and will soon be looking for a greater
challenger.
