My illustration of French real estate was a poor example of capital flight. The point I'm making is that these hedge and investment pools (including Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, et al: no international boundaries) have the ability to suck and borrow all the Ms dry in a heartbeat and send it abroad into various carry trades on foreign assets, commodities, ventures or just trades. Let's just call it the "benefits" of free and unobstructed international capital flows, now reversed and returning to haunt the US big time.
