I agree that lumping Padilla in with Cheney's right to private meetings with political advisors is a non-issue. But it certainly is inflammatory, which is the point for the lumping behavior. Separating things out and considering them on their individual merits isn't nearly as much fun as lumping things into a grand conspiracy theory and hyperventilating, at least so it appears.
