I, too, am eerily suspended in history and thinking how the great Europeans must have experienced and felt in late 1800's and early 1900's.

In say, 1916 for instance? Perhaps on the beaches of Gallipoli? Or in the Ardennes? Or perhaps Verdun. Yes, it was certainly a time of 'great' excitement. I have to grant you that.
