Bill,
The dislike of W exists big time in the east and remember the last election was a 50/50 deal nationwide. Of course bush is the incumbant and i dont think even a terror attack would make a democrat more electable.
However, I think it is wrong to think that Democrats would be unable to elect a pres who could do a good job. Clinton wasnt that bad but of course the right has the same visceral hatred for him that the liberals have for bush. Others in the field are significantly better than Dean even though they have run this pitiful primary so far.
And lets go back to 2000-- were you 100% sure Bush was up for the job? I wasnt and in the privacy of the voting booth, I voted for gore. I got over that once the chad thing materialized and saw the deep flaws of algore.
For the first year of bush I was totally unimpressed. 9/11 changed the man or brought the true man out of the closet or whatever. Now I am a believer but still want a choice in november that i can at least consider. Dean is a sterotype of every arrogant doctor i ever went to and every spoiled rich kid I ever met in college. He disqualifies himself with me further because he is so arrogant that he ignore political necessessities like saying the capture of saddam makes the US safer. I understand what his reluctance to say this is but it is impolitic and one wonders how he could govern with the hard arrogant edge. Mike
