Famed hit-man Novak's screed is evidence of the GOP's increasingly scary dilemma: "we said we wanted Dean as a candidate - now what do we do?"

Insiders can't get enough distance from their Beltway drawing rooms to recognize that Americans are fed up and recognize these Washington parlor games for what they are.

Any political junkie who follows either the Dem or Repub line too closely will continue to experience whiplash as new reasons are invented by the party machines as to why Dean (a)should be dismissed, (b)won't win anyway, or (c)is dangerous somehow.

The biggest danger is to the entrenched professionals whose entire existance is dependent on keeping any true populist out of power. These are parasites on the body politic, whose collective trillions derive from the fooling the public.

Dean has made a mistake perhaps in going after everybody at once, in the mode of TR. He speaks his mind and refuses "handlers", so we hear on Hardball that he's going after concentration in the media, as well fighting back against attacks from the Dems.

What seems to be happening in the primaries at least, is that with every attack by either Dems or GOP Dean gets greater support from a very motivated constituency, who are sick of hearing self-serving nonsense from both of 'em.
