MHO, you either offer the best stuff there is and charge a lot for it -- or -- you offer something less and have to compete with everyone else and his brother too.

What you say is generally true for items like food. But what happens when your are selling interchangeable parts like flash memory and the items you sell must meet a set of written specifications? Then being the lowest cost producer is a lot more important than having the lowest selling price.
