11:02AM Newspaper industry expects ad revenues to rise 4.1% by Chris Bagley
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW)- The newspaper industry can expect revenues to grow by 4.1 percent next year, according to a trade publication. The forecast, which appears in the January issue of Presstime magazine, is roughly in line with analysts' expectations for the sluggish industry. National advertising may be particularly strong, as television ads for presidential candidates crowd out other advertising, the association's vice president for research wrote in the article. Classified advertising will probably grow 4.5 percent, ahead of the trend, VP James Conaghan wrote.
