Bill,
Here in central NJ I got to watch the fighter jets play "shotgun in the sky" this afternoon. Quite something to see. Most folks miss it, but for me since 9/11 the sight of american warplanes remind me of the day when i crossed the brooklyn bridge with tens of thousands of others. On that day a young gal began to cry when she saw the planes and someone said "they're ours". Felt good to hear that then and good to see now. They are 24X7 over NYC until the end of January and they fly from bases in NJ. Mike
PS On friday there was a report of a suicide woman bomber in NYC. Homeland security said there were no plans to raise threat level. 2 days letter they do a 180. I have a hunch that we may be getting better intel from (a) iraqis captured with intel from saddam and his documents and/or (b)Libya which has always had a robust intelligence capability perhaps now turned to our side by giving up al quaeda for end of sanctions.
PPS The raising of the threat level with all that it entails upsets the plans of terrorists to some degree so we may never know whether we actually stopped an attack. A few weeks ago, london was in the same situation and nothing happened.
