"It is exactly right to call the underlying vision of his tax policy, which is a system that taxes exclusively income from labor, and exempts income from investment, "the most radical idea since socialism," to quote John Edwards."

There is some truth in this argument. Obviously it is an overstatement. Personally i think the payroll tax needs to go and social security and medicare needs to be financed thru general revenues. That would give the average worker a 15% pay increase if you include the employer contribution. Even if you leave that in to fund half the program, 7.5% tax cut for the middle class is substantial. And i will even be more progressive and allow for a rate increase for upper income folks to offset the end of the payroll tax. Probably would raise rates on the top bracket to offset all or some of the break depending on income. OK conservatives, I am ready for the barbs.
PS flat tax would work too.
