LB,
We all be sure that this was a result of the iraq war when syria does the same thing. A little more complicated there for reasons of geography and the fact that syria has land to get back from israel. But i think syria may be the next breakthrough sometime in 2004. Assad the younger needs more to be a player in the new world, than being a rejectionist in the arab world. If he is to have a future in the region, it is time for him to switch gears. If Khaddafi could do it and apparently get a free pass from past acts, so can bashir. The good news with syria is that they have a long history of honoring agreements although bargaining with them often is a nightmare. mike
