Repeat what? The Dems are just as bad on spending as the Repubs. and they were in control for a longer period of time. They may have spent in different ways, sans "earmarks", but wasteful spending is wasteful spending no matter how it is done.... The bottom line is that both parties have a responsibility to rein in wasteful spending and the current system does not provide an incentive to do so...
