Teri, producer prices are out this morning. Not sure if you can pull up this link, but if you can, it's the report and it lists the items contained in the producer price index. Gottfried wouldn't approve of many of the items on the list...<VGB!>

BTW, you aren't the only one confounded by the state of the economy right now, and what type of label to put on it. (I hope that's an accurate characterization of your thoughts.) I noticed in the online WSJ this morning that some analyst couldn't figure it out either. I can get the reference if you are interested.

IMHO, I think it's "different" now to some extent due to about 5 things:

1.) technology
2.) demographics (what the "baby boomers" are up to right now)
3.) end of the cold war and the military drawdown
4.] politicians with relatively little available pork to spread around
5.] NAFTA

Not necessarily in that order. What do you think?
