But at least we're safe from grandma: Banned in the USA Maureen Mordente inadvertently stayed for longer than allowed during a trip in 1998 and when she went back earlier this year she was stopped at the airport, held overnight in a detention centre and then deported. Despite appealing to the US Embassy in London, she has been told she cannot go back to see her daughter Anita and six-year-old grand-daughter Brianna. However, Dundee East MP Iain Luke has taken up her case and he will be asking Mr Straw if he can do anything to help.
