AO MOSENERGO opened the new substation Academicheskaya

18.12.2003

The new 220kV substation will provide power to new residential districts southwest of Moscow that are being built under the housing program of the Moscow Government.

It will be the most advanced AO MOSENERGO substation by technical standards. It has two 63,000 kVA transformers made at OAO KhK Elektrozavod. The substation is equipped with the automated monitoring and control system, which considerably increase the reliability of the operation and simplifies the technological process. The equipment will be remotely operated and controlled from the dispatch unit of AO MOSENERGO's Southern Electric Grids.

At the substation, 220-kV ABB-made sulphur switches were installed. As compared to older oil switches, sulphur switches are simple to operate and install, they have longer operation lives (30-50 years), long inter-repair period (20 years), high disconnection capacity and are safer.

Academicheskaya substation is a "closed" substation: all equipment is installed inside the substation's building. It is smaller in size than traditional substations and has a unique design, which fits in the surrounding architecture style. The substation has efficient noise-reduction equipment, which meets noise standards for nearby areas.

The construction of the substation began in the fall of 2002. The project's cost is around 660 mn rubles. Using its own funds AO MOSENERGO solely funded the project.

In June 2003, AO MOSENERGO put into operation a new 220 kV substation Shukolovo in Dmitrov region near Moscow. It ensures reliable power supply for nearby population centers and several ski resorts.
