Well, as my Christmas present to all present and former Marines, here is a song written by my training platoon (Platoon 105 at Paris Island) during boot camp. Our platoon won more contests then any in the history of the Marine Corps at that time. Here goes, its sung to the tune "Ghost Riders in the Sky"
"you can have your Army khakis, you can have your Navy Blues, There is another fighting man, I'll introduce to you, His uniform is spotless, the best you've ever seen, The Germans called him Devil Dog, but his real name is Marine, He came from Paris Island, the land that God forgot, The mud is 14 inches deep, the sun is scorching hot, He's peeled a million onions, and twice as many spuds, and spends most all his free time, squaring away his duds, His rifle is his best friend, it never leaves his side, He shoots it with the meanest eye, that no one can deny, And when he goes to battle, you can hear his warlike cry, Comeon Leathernecks, Kill them till we die, Now Ladies here's a tip, that I will give to you, Get yourself a good Marine, theres nothing he cant do, And when he dies, and goes to Heaven, St. Peter he will tell, Another Marine reporting Sir, I served my country well. Gung Hoooo Gung Hooooo, UNITED STATES MARINE!! |
