I stopped eating pre-ground beef a long time ago, back when the problem arose in Britain. I used to not only eat supermarket ground beef but I ate it raw, particularly in the form of raw meatloaf with its raw eggs, which I also no longer eat.

I don't know that any further precautions on our part are necessary, though. As for protecting the food supply, I imagine this will ratchet the protections up another notch. I was discouraged to hear that the experts don't know if people can catch this from eating muscle meat. Seems to me that that is the salient data they need before determining policy.
