You get the "cry wolf" syndrome because of this. And "Wag the Dog" charges will not be far behind in an election year.

But what should they do? I think if the suspected plot was localized to a specific Airline situation, as this one seems to be, they would have been better to keep it quiet. OTOH, if something like this caused damage, and they had said nothing, they would be in big trouble.

Damned if you do or don't.
